Night at the Museum is almost here! Join us tomorrow night, Thursday, April 24th from 5–7 PM for an evening full of fun and creativity! We will have special opportunities in our library on a rotation schedule! Here’s our exciting line-up:
🗣️ 5:15 PM - Our rotation schedule will kick off with the Springdale High School Bilingual Bulldogs energizing the crowd with a powerful chant and inspire guests by sharing their personal journeys and stories.
📖 5:30 PM – Author Read Aloud with Judith McCann, author of “Things My Momma Said." Travel back in time to the Great Depression as Judith shares stories of farm animals, strawberry picking, and the magic of radios before TVs. It’s a heartwarming journey into the past you won’t want to miss!
🌺 5:45 PM – Performance by Selina Carlson, who will wow us with a beautiful hula dance performance!
📚 6:00 PM – Author Read Aloud with Mandy Hicks, author of the Izzy Lu’s Adventure series, following the sweet and silly adventures of a young family.
🎨 Following the read-alouds – Dive into a DIY interactive art activity at 6:15 PM, with Sydney Pederson, a Walker teacher and owner of The Unwelcome Mat! Students will get to stencil and design their very own custom pencil bag to take home!

🦋 Our Walker Elementary Kindergarteners had an amazing hands-on science lesson with Kathy Peek, butterfly enthusiast and co-host of the Springdale Monarch Festival! 🌼 She guided students through the butterfly life cycle and shared how these fascinating creatures survive, find food, and interact with their environment. 🌿🌞
This engaging experience brought our Arkansas Kindergarten Science Standards to life:
🔍 K-LS1-1 – Students observed what butterflies need to survive.
🏞️ K-ESS2-2 – They learned how caterpillars change their environment by eating leaves.
🌍 K-ESS3-1 – Students discovered how butterflies rely on specific plants and places to live.
🌱 K-ESS3-3 – We explored how planting flowers can help protect butterflies and reduce human impact!

Ms. Norton, a speech-language pathologist, will be sharing about the amazing technology used in speech therapy, including speech-generating devices that help students find their voice. 🗣️💬
